Hefei Horizon, the world's largest silicon-based OLED maker, is completed and put into production
On the morning of November 21, the Hefei Horizon project commissioning ceremony was held in the Hefei New Station High-tech Zone, and the world's largest silicon-based OLED production plant was officially put into operation. Song Guoquan, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Anhui Provincial Committee and Secretary of the Hefei Municipal Party Committee, and Vice Mayor Wang Wensong of Hefei attended the commissioning ceremony. Shi Ying, Secretary General of the National Integrated Circuit Materials and Components Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance, Chen Hongda, Deputy Director of the Institute of Semiconductors of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Lianxin Capital, Yuwei Semiconductor Fund, Shengxin Fund, Walden International and other well-known investment institutions, Anhui Development and Reform Commission, More than 300 guests including the Economic and Information Office, the Science and Technology Department, Hefei Customs, the relevant departments of Hefei City, the Municipal Investment and Investment Group, and the City Xingtai Group, as well as the Shiya Cooperative Enterprise, witnessed this important moment.
Silicon-based OLED micro display devices are active organic light-emitting diode display devices made of single-crystal silicon as an active driving backplane. They have many advantages such as high resolution, high integration, low power consumption, small size, and light weight. Hefei Shiya Technology Co., Ltd., formerly known as Shanghai Shiya Information Technology Co., Ltd., was established in October 2016. The company's product core technology spans the two major fields of semiconductor and OLED new displays, and is widely used in AR, VR, wearable devices, industrial Security, medical and other high-resolution near-eye display industries.
In September 2017, Shanghai Shiya Information Technology Co., Ltd. established Hefei Shiya Display Technology Co., Ltd. in Hefei New Station High-tech Zone, with a total investment of over 2.4 billion yuan, of which 1.28 billion yuan was invested in the first phase, covering an area of 55 acres. The area is 43,000 square meters, of which the investment in fixed assets exceeds 1 billion yuan. It is currently the world's largest and the only R & D and production base focusing on 12-inch wafer silicon-based OLED micro display components. The first phase of the project can reach 9,000 pieces per month, with the world's largest production capacity, and its annual output value can reach 3 billion yuan at full capacity.
At today's launch ceremony, Dr. Gu Tie, Chairman of Horizon said that silicon-based OLED displays, as a new type of display technology combining semiconductors and OLEDs, will be the main solution for the next generation of smart wearable displays. The project officially started construction in January 2018. In less than two years, the project has been successfully put into production, and in July this year, two 0.72 inch and 1.03 inch displays were successfully lit. The achievement of the Horizon Project cannot be achieved without the concern of leaders at all levels and the help of friends from all walks of life. In the context of the rapid development of the global 5G network, Horizon has deeply researched and judged the development of the industry, developed and produced a global technology-leading micro display, and will make a significant contribution to the development of AR / VR and the entire near-eye display industry.
According to reports, the project is an important measure for the active deployment of next-generation display technology in Hefei and Xinzhan High-tech Zone. The commissioning of the project will further consolidate the leading position of Hefei's new-type display industry in China, from large size, small and medium size to horizon Hefei ’s miniature display devices, Hefei ’s new display industry technology, achieve diversification and go hand in hand.
